COLD PROCESS SOAPMAKING WORKSHOP

This class is a 4-hour, hands-on, immersive, and highly experiential soapmaking workshop taught by soapmaker and Simoy ng Haraya founder, Lala de Leon. In this class, students will learn how to use plants and other organic, natural ingredients to make soap from scratch using the cold process method. Each student will design and create their own batch of soap to take home (which equates to up to 10 bars when cut).

Lala is keeping this class small to work side-by-side with you. You'll also have the pleasure of meeting other likeminded people.

Students will take home an information-packed handout with instructions, recipes, supplier list, 1 wooden soap mold with silicone liner, protective goggles, soap cutter, ready-to-use soap bar,  and of course the batch of soap made in class.

The class will cover the following:

  • Necessary materials, supplies, equipment
  • Safety consideration when working with lye
  • Taking proper measurements
  • Using essential oils to scent your soap
  • Coloring soap with natural herbs, spices, or clay
  • Preparing your mold
  • Cutting, curing, storing your soap

Date: Sunday, January 19, 2020
Time: 9am - 1pm
